Yesterday morning Thu 30th June 2022, LDAA was made aware of a gosling Greylag Goose that appeared to be in some distress at the Blue Lagoon. Due to the diligent work of the LDAA committee and local residents and a wild goose chase from LDAA Secretary, Andy Founds, enticing the injured bird to land utilising the resident rowing boat, the goose is now in safe hands at a wildlife rescue centre. Initial assessment was the gosling to be suffering from a bacterial infection prone to waterfowl, known as angel wing, dropped wing and a multitude of other descriptors.

We were hoping for a speedy recovery so the goose can return home to a welcoming family at the Blue Lagoon. We just want to take this moment to remind frequent users of Blue Lagoon and all our waters that if an injured animal is discovered, to contact the LDAA immediately and we can take swift action in assisting injured wildlife.

Here is a follow up report from Bedlam Farm Wildlife Rescue Centre;

For any further incidents, you can contact LDAA directly via email  secretary@lincolnangling.org or preference for a swifter response via text to 07453 910901.

All animals who call our waters home are a priority for the LDAA. We believe in a well-balanced ecosystem and the geese have certainly greeted our Blue Lagoon anglers in recent months. The ecosystem on our waters is thriving which is evident from another sighting of a Mallard Duck and a Coot swimming with their most recent hatchlings.

Our recent biodiversity work is creating a wildlife habitat that anglers and the local community alike are enjoying. We would like to thank Andy and Lisa Bird for their cooperation and assistance with this matter along with Cathy from Bedlam Farm Wildlife Rescue.
