Saturday 26t Nov saw Lincoln & District Angling Association host the final round of the Whisby Angling Supplies Winter Saturday League 2022.
It was all to play for going into the final round with 8 anglers still fishing for the top five positions. The Fossdyke Navigation looked in perfect condition and with a favourable weather forecast it all looked good for an excellent day’s fishing.
Top man was canal expert Dave Hiley (Mansfield Woodhouse) off Peg 6 on the Roadside with 9lb 14oz of mainly roach and few small skimmers. Dave fished at 13 metres with maggot and caster for is winning weight.
There was a tie for second spot between Dale Whelan (Lincoln) and Mark Griggs (Boston). Dale fished at 13 metres off Peg 11 on the Roadside with maggot over caster while Mark fished groundbait and pinkie at 8 and 13 metres off Peg 3 at the Bridge with both anglers weighing 9lb 12oz of mainly roach.
The final league positions finished very close with only 4 points separating the top five places. It was Dave Ashmoor (Grimsby) who took top honours with 31 points after countback.
John Small (Lincoln) was a very close second again with 31 points, third place was taken by Dave Hiley (Mansfield Woodhouse) with 30 points, John Blades (Lincoln) took fourth place with 28 points with Mark Griggs (Boston) claiming fifth place with 27 points.
