Saturday 4th December was the final match in the six-match series, and it was still all to fish for to finish in the top six final league places.

Once again, the 19 competitors found the canal very clear troubled with horrendous winter conditions throughout the day.  All the top weights came from the Bridge section, and it was Rob Thorley off fancied peg 1 who took the honour’s, Rob fished chopped worm and lobby down the tins to take two good perch, with ground bait and pinkie at 6 and 11 metres for roach to finish with 7lb 12oz.

Match Winner - Rob Thorley

Second place went to Paul Cannon off peg 4 with 6lb 10oz of roach to bread punch fished at 9 metres down the track.  Paul Wilson came home in third spot off peg 2 with 6lb 5oz.

It was very tight in the league with Dale Whelan taking top spot for the fourth consecutive year and with John Barningham taking runner-up by the tightest of margins.

Both anglers finished the league on 34 points, both with 4 section wins and a second in section, therefore it had to be decided on overall weight with Dale weighing in 28lb to John's 27lb 4oz.

It was just as close for third and fourth place with John Blades and David Hiley, both finishing on 31 points. This also went to overall weight to decide the outcome. John weighed 23lb 13oz taking third place from Dave with 22lb 2oz for fourth place.

In overall fifth place was Malc Firmstone with 29 points, from John Small in sixth on 28 points.

Match organiser John Blades would just like to thank all for attending and Whisby Angling Supplies for sponsoring the league once again.
