There was a good turnout for The Nearly John Small Memorial Match, fished on the Upper Witham, Coulson Road Stretch.

On the day the river fished fairly well with most the competitors getting bites all day, but it was the usual story of the pegs downstream taking the best weights.

Alan Houlton drew end peg 137 and proceeded to win the match with 20lb 6oz of roach to pole fished with bread punch.

Runner up was Dale Whelan off peg 132 with 11lb 13oz of roach to punch and perch to chopped worm with the man himself, John Small taking third place off peg 134 with 10lb 6oz of roach again to pole fished bread punch. Pic John Small.
