Saturday 16 December 2023 saw Lincoln & District AA host the final round of The Whisby Angling Supplies Saturday League 23, it was also run in conjunction with The Lincoln & District AA Fur & Feather 23.

On the day, the canal had dropped down but was still carrying a lot of colour and was pulling hard to Lincoln with a strong westerly wind making it hard for a good presentation.

Once again it was the Bridge section which took all the framing weights with Paul Cannon (Goole) taking top spot from peg 3 with 9lb 10oz of roach to groundbait and pinkie at 6 meters. In second place was Neil Fletcher (Newark) with an all roach net of 8lb 2oz again to groundbait and pinkie at 6 metres from peg 2. In third place was Lincoln's Ryan Neal from peg 1 with 7lb 15oz of mainly perch to chopped worm and lobby down the tins with Alistar Olgvie in fourth place from peg 4 with 7lb 7oz of roach.

Section winners were:

  • Bridge Section A:  Dave Ashmoor - 4lb 8oz peg 5
  • Roadside Section B: John Small - 5lb 11oz peg 5
  • Roadside Section C: Keith Clifton 2lb 4oz peg 11
  • Roadside Section D: John Blades - 3lb 14oz peg 20

It was a tight affair in the league with Dale Whelan (Lincoln) taking top spot with 26 points from Dave Ashmoor (Grimsby) finishing in second place with 25 points. In third place was John Small (Lincoln) with 24 points and a better section count back than Phil Chesterton (Grantham) in forth place also with 24 points. The final two places were Paul Cannon (Goole) in fifth and in sixth place Keith Clifton (Lincoln) both with 23 points and it was decided on overall weight.

Match organiser John Blades would like to thank all who took part in the league, a big thank you to Whisby Angling Supplies for once again sponsoring the event and also Lincoln and District Angling Association for sponsoring the Fur & Feather prizes.
