This Saturday saw round two of The Whisby Angling Supplies Saturday League 2023 take place on the Fossdyke Navigation at Saxilby. After last week's poor result's most of the 19 anglers were contemplating a hard day's fishing, but the canal was in fine form with some excellent weight's returned.

Once again, as in last week's match, it was the Bridge section which though up the top weight, and it was the very consistent Alister Olgvie (Boston) who took top honours of peg 3 with 16lb 2oz of mainly roach to groundbait and pinkie fished at 8 and 14 metres. In a very close second place was another very consistent angler, Dave Hiley (Mansfield Woodhouse) with 16lb of peg 10 on the Roadside, Dave had a rather mixed net consisting of roach to groundbait and pinkie fished at 8 and 11 metres plus two good perch and a tench to lob worm down the tin's. Phil Chesterton made up the frame of peg 5 again on the Roadside with an all roach net for 13lb 10oz to take third place.

Secton winners on the day were:

  • A section: Steve Gilbert (Lincoln) 10lb 12oz
  • B section: Dave Ashmoor (Grimsby) 11lb 5oz
  • C section: Dale Whelan (Lincoln) 10lb 10oz
